Hello, my name is Sylvia Gulbenkian and I am an acupuncturist, practicing a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element Acupuncture.

After a background in Veterinary Medicine, I qualified as an acupuncturist in 2002, from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM). I returned to CICM as a part-time lecturer/tutor in 2005.

I have had a special interest in treating infertility and treating during pregnancy and childbirth for some time and have undertaken post-graduate training in these subjects. My enthusiasm for treating during pregnancy/childbirth increased even further after experiencing the positive effects first hand, during my own two pregnancies. Although, with a young family, I am not able to make myself available for labours, I do teach acupressure to birthing partners, which (from my own experience and that of my patients) is not only hugely beneficial to the woman in labour, but also allows the partner to feel more useful and involved.
